Eridge
Eridge is a village half way between Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells. Eridge contains Eridge Green which is an ecclesiastical parish formed on 5th February 1856 from the civil parishes of Frant and Rotherfield.and it is in the Rye division of Sussex, in the hundred of Rotherfield, rape of Pevensey, the rural deaconry of Etchingham, the archdeaconry of Hastings and the diocese of Chichester. Eridge also contains Eridge Park and Eridge Castle - the seat of the Marquess of Abergavenny. Eridge is 38 miles south of London.
The population of Eridge in 1871 was 694; in 1881 was 754; in 1891 was 530; in 1901 was 770; in 1911 was 756; 1921 was 712; in 1932 was 679
Eridge is derived from its original form as 'Eagle's ridge'.
